At Wildflowers Learning Center, we are excited to participate in Wisconsin’s new Get Kids Ready Program, a statewide initiative designed to help families access high-quality early childhood education while supporting children’s kindergarten readiness.
What is the Get Kids Ready Program?
The Get Kids Ready Program is a Wisconsin-funded school readiness initiative for children who are 4 years old by September 1 of the school year in which they participate.
The program helps prepare children for kindergarten by supporting development in key areas such as:
-
Social-emotional skills
-
Language and communication
-
Early literacy and math concepts
-
Physical development
-
Self-help and independence skills
-
Approaches to learning and problem-solving
Participating programs provide instruction aligned with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS), helping children build a strong foundation for future academic success.
How Does the Program Benefit Families?
One of the primary goals of the Get Kids Ready Program is to make high-quality preschool and child care more affordable for families.
The State of Wisconsin will fund a portion of the educational component of care (approximately 12 hours per week), reducing the overall cost of tuition for participating families.
Current estimates suggest that eligible families may see a tuition reduction of approximately $250 per month, although the exact amount will be determined by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families and may vary based on statewide participation and funding levels.
Who May Qualify?
The program is intended for children who:
-
Are 4 years old by September 1 of the participating school year
-
Are enrolled in a participating early childhood program
-
Meet any additional eligibility requirements established by the State of Wisconsin
As additional guidance becomes available, we will share updated eligibility information with our families.
